Who We Are: LKM Professional Team

Harald J. Leventhal, President: Expertise in analysis of all aspects of the client’s financial and administrative management including budgeting, cash flow, operations, management information and compliance. Hal has extensive experience in both the nonprofit and private sector as a CFO, entrepreneur and consultant in technology, banking and travel. Prior to co-founding LKM in 1998, he was the Chief Financial Officer of the Jewish Community Federation of San Francisco, Marin, the Peninsula and Sonoma. He has served on the Tahoe City Public Utilities District Citizens Advisory Committee and on the Board of the Far West Ski Association. He earned an M..B.A. in Finance from the University of California at Berkeley.


Benita R. Kline, Vice President: Expertise in domestic and international grant making, strategic planning, research and analysis, program development, evaluation, foundation governance and board development. Benita has over 25 years of experience in the nonprofit community as a community planner, development director and grantmaker. Prior to co-founding LKM in 1998, she was the Director of Planning and Organizational Services at the Jewish Community Federation of the Greater East Bay. She currently serves on the Alameda County F.E.M.A. Board and the Board of Directors of the Jewish Community Federation of the Greater East Bay. She holds an M.S. in Organizational Psychology from San Francisco State University.

Tracy Fraas, Manager, Client Accounting: Expertise in developing systems for ongoing foundation operations and financial reporting. Tracy’s experience includes nonprofit operations and finance, commercial banking, small business management and tax preparation. She has an M.B.A. in Accounting from California State University at Hayward.

Jeffrey Leighton, C.P.A., Associate: Expertise in foundation structure and operations, tax, financial reporting, asset management and foundation effectiveness. Jeff has over 25 years of experience serving as staff and consultant to many of the largest foundations in the country. Jeff served as CFO of the David and Lucile Packard Foundation from 1988 to 1997. He has an M.B.A. with specialization in Finance and Accounting from U.C. Berkeley.
